GCSE Business Course

The course introduces students to the business world, empowering them
to develop as commercially minded and enterprising individuals. Students will have
the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills, enabling them to use business
information critically, to develop arguments, to make justified decisions and to
prepare them for further study and career pathways.
The course covers 6 distinct topic areas:
- Business activity
- Influences on business
- Business operations
- Finance
- Marketing
- Human resources
There are no previous learning requirements for this course.
Curriculum
This GCSE specification in Business will enable learners to:
- actively engage in the study of business to develop as effective and independent learners, and as critical and reflective thinkers with enquiring

Assessment
This is a linear qualification in which all assessments must be taken at the end of the course.
The qualification is made up of two units.
Both units assess content from all six topic areas,
so students will be required to draw together knowledge, skills and understanding from
across the subject content in each assessment.
Unit 1:
Business World
Written examination: 2 hours
62.5% of qualification
Unit 2:
Business Perceptions
Written examination: 1 hour 30 minutes
37.5% of qualification
Exam Access Arrangements
Exam access arrangements allow candidates/learners with special educational needs,
disabilities or temporary injuries to access the assessment without changing the
demands of the assessment.
For example, readers, scribes and Braille question papers. In this way, Awarding
Bodies will comply with the duty of the Equality Act 2010 to make ‘reasonable
adjustments’.

assessor.
The deadline for application to the exam board is the February of the year the learner sits exams.
