The University Foundation Programme (UFP) Engineering & Computing Foundation Pathway is an intensive one year foundation course, which will prepare you for a wide range of Engineering and Computing bachelor degrees.
The UFP Engineering and Computing foundation course allows students to develop a strong grounding in relevant scientific subjects. This begins by developing their technical skills and encouraging an analytical approach to problem solving. The course covers all the essential topics needed to make a strong start on any technology-based degree course.
As a growing sector worldwide, there has never been more demand for engineering and computing graduates. Whilst science evolves rapidly and computer systems become essential to everyday interactions, technical skills are becoming invaluable.
Course Term Dates
|Start in September or January
- There are two start dates for our foundation courses – September and January.
- Depending on when prospective students finish their senior school studies, they have the option of beginning their course sooner or slightly later.
- Both complete in time for a September start at university the following year.

The Engineering and Computing foundation course is continually assessed, thus removing the pressure of an end of year examination. There will be mid-term examinations throughout the course and an end-of-term examination for each module. In addition, students are required to complete coursework and practical physics laboratory and computer laboratory sessions.
We offer a university approved syllabus which fully prepares students for their undergraduate studies. Our teachers are highly qualified and are specialists in their field. The exceptional standard of education allows students to make a smooth transition to undergraduate degree level.
